Hi!

First I must say that the composition of the piece is very interesting -- it drew me in right away and interested me! Where you've placed the merfolk is equally balanced and also well thought out! Beyond that, I rather like the mermaid's hair and the detail that you added in with the things tangled around her arms. The little things like that make the setting more interesting! You accomplished something similar with the background too! The ship is overlapped by her tail, making the illusion of depth, but is still visible and adds context.

One thing I might suggest could be improved is the shading on both merpeople. The merman is pretty accurate I think, but the mermaid's torso and tail are slightly flat in areas, which could be fixed just by intensifying the shadows to contrast sharply with the setting and make them seem more dimensional. That is the main thing I think could be improved, but in general I think that this piece is a success! Good job, and I hope that this comment has been helpful.
